The main constituents of Malva sylvestris are phenolic and flavonoid compounds and the presence of malvin, malvidin, dolphinidine, Alkaloids cyanine, beta-carotene, , saponins, tannins, mucilage, and especially antioxidants in this plant, cause antimicrobial, antioxidant, antiviral, and analgesic properties. It has been proven as an improvement in inflammation in laboratory research.
Among the properties of Malva sylvestris are:
1. Due to its high phenolic composition, it has anti-radical properties and is able to inhibit oxidation.
2. The flavonoid compounds in this plant have the high power of DPPH radical inhibition.

The essential oil (1 to 2.5%) is composed rather differently in different species and varieties of sage. Dalmatian sage (S. officinalis ssp. minor) contains mostly thujone (35 to 60%), camphor (18%),1,8-cineol (15%), borneol (16%), bornyl esters, salvene and α-pinene .
Among the properties of Salvia officinalis are:
1. The phytoestrogens in sage reduce perspiration and hot flashes, especially in postmenopausal women, and the phenolic acids in it, such as rosmarinic acid, inhibit sweating.
2. With its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, sage can be a good treatment for vulgaris acne.
3. Salvia extracts inhibit the growth of the bacteria Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus aureus, which are among the most important pathogens involved in the development of acne. The antibacterial effect of this plant is similar to that of azlaicic acid and benzoyl peroxide.
4. The oleic acid in sage extract with a mechanism similar to interferon alfa interferes with the replication of herpes simplex virus type 1 and thus inhibits the early stages of its infectious cycle.
5. Studies show that the extract of this plant, when the virus binds to cells, interferes with the virus’s virulence and prevents these agents from entering the host cells and infecting them, reducing the formation of herpes simplex virus type 1 plaque.
6. Also, phenolic compounds in sage such as flavonoids, tannins and caffeic acid derivatives prevent the virus from binding to host cells by occupying receptors on the virus surface and inactivating the herpes simplex virus.

6. Peppermint Oil is an herbal supplement that has found to be effective as treatment for colic, common cold, dysmenorrhea, indigestion, inflammation of mouth/pharynx, irritable bowel syndrome, nausea, vomiting, pain, respiratory infections, and tension headaches.
Main components are the phenols thymol (ca. 40%) and carvacrol (ca. 15%). In winter, phenol content is lower (but mostly thymol); in summer, more phenols (up to 70%) are found, with significant amounts of carvacrol. Further components in the essential oil are thymol methyl ether (2%), α-pinene, cineol, cymene, estersof the latter two and borneol .
Among the properties of Thymes are:
1. Thymol or thymine oil, which is present in the composition of the plant’s essential oil, is the main source of Thymes disinfectant properties, it is absorbed through the mucosa and is excreted in the urine, making the color of the urine dark or black.
2. About one percent of thymol oil is obtained from the distillation of the leaves of the plant. Timol is a white crystalline phenol with the raw formula C1. H13 OH has strong antiseptic and antifungal properties and is used in perfumery.
3. Thyme has antimicrobial, antifungal and antiparasitic properties due to the presence of thymol.
4. It is used in pharmaceuticals to prepare disinfectant gargle solutions for sore throats and cough drops, and in dentistry for the preparation of mouthwash solutions.
5. It facilitates the expulsion of the fetus and peritoneum and opens the intestinal obstruction and cleanses the breast. It is useful for shortness of breath and strengthening the stomach, liver, spleen and kidneys, as well as for the analysis of frozen semen and blood due to plant and animal toxins.
